Legislative leadership recaps week in Pierre

Leadership from Republicans and Democrats gave their weekly press conferences Thursday, recapping the week in Pierre.

South Dakota state senator Democrat Reyonld Nesiba of Sioux Falls has introduced a bill which would do away with the death penalty in South Dakota. The bill has the support of President pro temp of the state senate Republican Lee Schoenbeck of Watertown. Nesiba explained his reasons for bringing this bill forward…

South Dakota Senate Majority Leader Casey Crabtree spoke recently about Senate Join Resolution 501, which has made it out of the Senate Committee and will be heard by the full body. If made law, it would put to voters whether or not work requirements are necessary for able bodied individuals to receive medicaid under the expansion voters approved last election.
