A pro life group seeking to keep an abortion amendment off the November ballot which would restore Roe vs. Wade in South Dakota has filed a lawsuit against the measure. According to the lawsuit, the Life Defense Fund claims Dakotan’s for Health, the grassroots organization spearheading the measure, broke election laws when gathering signatures to get the proposal on the ballot. The group alleges Dakotan’s for Health engaged in a type of bait-and-switch with voters so they did not understand what they were signing. This is the latest attempt to keep the abortion amendment off the ballot, with the state legislature even passing a new law this past session allowing voters who signed petitions the opportunity to remove their name if they so choose.
