SD PUC approves windfarm in northeast South Dakota

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Tuesday approved an estimated 300 megawatt wind farm to be located in Grant and Condition counties.  The project is estimated to cost $380 million and is expected to be completed by 2021.  Minneapolis-based Xcel Energy will build and own the project they are calling the “Dakota Range” wind project.  It is expected to consist of 72 turbines across about 44,500 acres of land.
