A Sioux Falls man sentenced to shooting his best friend in 2015 is getting a new trial on a technicality. According to reports David Leonard Randle Jr had both convictions of manslaughter I and II overturned by the South Dakota Supreme Court. The court’s opinion was a witness in the case was not sequested for two days of testimony and sat in the courtroom, despite being told not to enter. Randle Jr. was standing trial for the death of 19-year-old Mikael Ashame. He claimed a loaded AK-47 accidentally discharged and hit Ashame in the leg, clipping an artery. Drugs and alcohol were also involved.
