The Huron Police Department is once again receiving reports of counterfeit $100 bills being passed at local businesses.
Residents are advised to be cautious when accepting any $100 bills as even friends and trusted associates may have unknowingly come into possession of a counterfeit bill.
Several weeks ago the Huron Police department received reports that phony currency was being circulated. Detectives were able to make an arrest in connection with those incidents.
The fake bills are distinguished by small red Chinese writing printed on the backside of the bill. Also, when the bill is held up to the light Benjamin Franklin’s face doesn't appear in the watermark portion.
Counterfeit money detector pens will leave a brown mark on the phony money.
Residents are asked to contact police immediately if they receive a counterfeit bill.
