One person died and two others were seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday afternoon near Lesterville.
Names of three men involved have not yet been released pending notification of family members. They were the only people involved.
A 1983 Ford Mustang was westbound on 430th Avenue when the driver lost control. The vehicle went into ditch, hit a field approach, went airborne and caught fire after landing.
All three occupants were ejected from the vehicle and airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital. One of the two passengers, age 20, later died from his injuries. The 29-year-old driver and the other passenger, 25, both suffered life-threatening injuries.
Charges are pending against the driver. Seatbelt use by the three is under investigation.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
