KCCR - Pierre, SD
A Rosebud man is pleading guilty to Identity Theft in Stanley County. Stanley County States Attorney Thomas P. Maher says 41 year-old Waylon Nelson Marshall made the plea change Tuesday during court in Fort Pierre. Maher says the change stems from Marshall’s visit to a local church on June 29th. Marshall was at the church to request assistance. While at the church, Marshall admitted to stealing a checkbook from the victim in the church’s office. Marshall and a co-defendant then drove to Pierre and charged around 500-dollars on the victim’s credit care. The two were arrested on July first by police in Martin, where they were found to be in possession of the stolen checkbook, its contents and other contraband. An update of Marshall’s presentence report was ordered by the Court. Sentencing on the Class 5 felony charge is tentatively scheduled for November 6th.
