South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has signed an emergency declaration due to the blizzards and flooding the state suffered last week. The declaration allows the use of additional state funds to help counties recover. The money comes from the South Dakota Disaster Fund. The city of Yankton and Sioux Falls are currently battling flood conditions. Gov. Noem visited the location to assess the damage herself over the weekend. South Dakota is not the only state battling floodwaters. Northeast Nebraska is currently underwater with two people losing their lives in the flood.
