The Northeast Area Horse Racing Association has announced for the first time in 60 years there will be no horse racing in Aberdeen this year. This news comes about a month after it was announced there would be no horse racing in Fort Pierre this year as well. According to a post on the group’s Facebook page, the NAH will miss this season due to the inability to meet changes put in place on bond requirements put forth by the South Dakota gaming commission. This despite the state legislature approving $120,000 to help keep horse racing afloat over the next two years. The post goes onto say the group remains optimistic there will be a new revenue source and horse racing will continue in the future.
