A Mexican national has been sentenced to federal prison time in Nebraska for running a cockfighting operation in the northeast part of the state. According to court documents 48-year-old Fabian Castro will serve 16 months in prison and two years supervised release upon completion of his sentence. He pleaded guilty to one count of participation in an animal fighting venture. Prosecutors say Castro had 31 gamecocks in a ranch near O’Neill Nebraska. He and others would gamble on the outcome of two birds fighting one another.
