The South Dakota Department of Human Services is now accepting applications for nursing home innovation grants.
The innovation grants, proposed by the Noem Administration and passed in partnership with the South Dakota Legislature, are designed to fund projects in areas crucial to the needs of South Dakota’s long-term care participants.
“Earlier this year, I worked with the legislature to give a 10 percent funding increase to nursing home providers. This is a good start, but we must confront the root of the problem: an outdated system of care for our seniors,” said Gov. Kristi Noem.
Noem added, “These innovation grants will bring forward new ways to deliver care. They will allow our senior care givers to explore alternative options that can be developed for patients and their families like expanding the continuum of care or potentially developing community living homes.”
Projects will be selected based on ideas that show the greatest potential for developing entrepreneurial and sustainable business practices, demonstrate an understanding of resident needs and utilize innovative technologies and ideas.
Applications are due on June 3.
