The Oglala Sioux Tribal Council voted Wednesday on a measure which informs South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, she is no longer welcome on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.  The move comes in response to Governor Noem’s support and passing of so called “riot boosting” bills, which are aimed at protestors at pipeline construction projects.

According to the tribe, the legislation unfairly targets Native Americans and allies who support the effort to keep oil pipelines away from tribal lands.  Governor Noem’s office released a statement on the decision Thursday, saying the decision by tribal leadership is not consistent with her interactions with members of the Oglala community at large.
