Police responded to an officer involved shooting at the Minnehaha County Jail Tuesday afternoon. According to the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s department a 44-year-old man with a glass bottle in hand was hitting a window near the front of the jail. When backup arrived to deal with the suspect, he became violent and according to authorities charged at them with a knife in hand. The deputy in question fired two shots, one hitting the suspect. He was transported to a hospital and his condition was unknown. An officer received minor injuries due to broken glass.
