Earlier this spring, the tribal council on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation announced it was banning Governor Kristi Noem from coming there.
The tribe is upset over legislation Noem supported that they say limits their ability to protest during construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
The governor was asked if her relationship with the tribe has improved since the ban was announced…
Noem says on a statewide level, her relationship with South Dakota’s Native American community is very good….
Noem’s comments came during a stop in Watertown this week.
