The South Dakota Animal Industry Board announced Thursday, a disease that can cause cows to abort has been found in South Dakota herds, specifically in southwest South Dakota.  The disease is known as trich and is a parasite borne disease.  Two bulls specifically were infected in a herd in Oglala Lakota County.  Officials are working with the herd owner and other veterinarians to come up with a plan to control the disease, which is transmitted between animals during breeding.
