The South Dakota Department of Health reports two cases of vaping-related illnesses. Vaping, which is a nicotine substitute to traditional cigarettes, has come under more scrutiny recently with several people falling ill with mysterious illnesses after vaping. The residents in this case are between the ages of 20-24. South Dakota becomes one of 33 states that have reported cases of respiratory illnesses believed to be linked to e-cigarette use. Symptoms include coughing, shortness of breath and chest pains. Vaping is not a safe alternative to smoking.
