South Dakota state senator Stace Nelson announced on his personal Facebook page Sunday he is retiring from politics. Nelson will effectively leave politics beginning December 10th. He was first elected to the South Dakota House of Representatives in 2010 serving District 25 for two years before running for the district 19 senate seat. He assumed office for District 19 in 2017. In his post on social media he cited military injuries wearing on him more as he ages, a desire to spend more time with family and overall frustration with state elected officials. He closes the post by recommending Pastor Michael Boyle of Parkston to fill his seat by Gov. Kristi Noem.
