Residents in the south east district of Aberdeen will be choosing a representative on the city council during this June's election. Three candidates have qualified for the June ballot including incumbent Dennis “Mike” Olson and business owners Dave Welling and Tiffany Langer.

Langer moved to Aberdeen in 2016 with her husband Scott who is the head coach of the Aberdeen Wings NAHL hockey team. Since then Langer has made Aberdeen her home by starting a business, her husband committing long term to the Wings team and she moved her parents to town.

Langer has many ideas she would like to see implemented on the council she feels could make things easier for business owners and residents alike. The council may have not taken these approaches yet according to Langer because of a lack of diversity among council members...

On Langer's web site, she lays out three bullet points she wants to address if elected. Those include growth and opportunity, efficiency and transparency and community and advocacy. She talked specifically about transparency...

Langer also talked about the road conditions in Aberdeen. According to her, other cities Aberdeen's size have different ways to getting immediate problems solved quicker...

The election will coincide with the 2020 primary election on June 2nd. Regular in person voting will take place on that day, but to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 the Secretary of State Steve Barnett is offering all registered voters an absentee mail in ballot. Residents should have received an application in the mail recently. If you want to vote by mail fill that out and a ballot will be mailed to you.

Stay tuned to Dakota Broadcasting and to hear from the other candidates in this race.
