Today is the primary election in South Dakota. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. To 7:00 p.m. Poling locations include in Aberdeen the Aberdeen Mall, Best Western Ramkota and Brown County Community Courthouse.  Rural polling locations include the Columbia Legion, Wesport Town Hall, Warner Community Center, Stratford Community Center, Groton Community Center, Claremont City Hall, Hecla Community Center and Frederick Community Center.

On the ballot this election includes a city council spot representing the SE district between Dennis Mike Olson, Tiffany Langer and Dave Welling, a spot on the Aberdeen public school board and primaries on the republican side for congress between Dusty Johnson and Liz Marty May and senator Mike Rounds and Scyller Borglum.


Vote by mail and absentee voting has been encouraged this election due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  According to McNickle a good portion of people have already voted because of that…






If you have requested and filled out an absentee ballot, but failed to get it in the mail on time McNickle says you can still vote…





South Dakota is one of eight contests today across the country.  Those other states holding their primaries today include Indiana, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia.  If Joe Biden can win 89 percent of the delegates allocated today in the Democratic primary he will have enough delegates to clinch the nomination.  His only remaining opponent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is not actively campaigning after suspending his campaign months ago following the Super Tuesday contests.
