Flags will be flying today in honor of the Korean War Armistice Day according to the Exchange Club of Aberdeen.  The Korean War lasted from June 25th 1950 to July 27th 1953, claiming the lives of 2 to 3 million civilians, 36,574 Americans and wounding several hundred thousand more.  The war was fought between North Korea with the backing of China and the Soviet Union and South Korea with the support of the United Nations, but principally the United States.  The war ended with a cease fire instead of a traditional surrender which still holds to this day with the Korean Demilitarized Zone.
