One person died Saturday night in a motorcycle-pickup crash west of Hartford.
Names of the three people involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.
A 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup was stationery in the eastbound lane on South Dakota Highway 38 waiting to make a left-hand turn into a business. An eastbound Harley Davidson FXDWGI motorcycle failed to slow down in time and struck the rear of the pickup.
The 43-year-old male motorcycle driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle. He was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Both occupants of the pickup, the 37-year-old male driver and the 44-year-old female passenger, were not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this time.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
