Smithfield Foods in Sioux Falls has been fined by OSHA, the federal oversight workers safety board for failing to protect its employees from the COVID-19 pandemic.  The fine was for $13,494.  1,294 Smithfield employees contracted COVID-19 in the spring of 2020 and four employees died as a result of contracting the virus.  The pork processing plant was the largest COVID hotbed in the country before it finally closed its doors April 12th to try and get the virus under control.  Smithfield Foods has released a statement calling the fine without merit.
