South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has called a special session of the state legislature to discuss spending federal COVID-19 relief funding. The legislature will meet Monday Oct. 5th and discuss how to spend the $1.25 billion in relief funds. The state has until December 30th to spend the money. $200 million has already been spent on city and county government operations. In broad terms Governor Noem has proposed offering $400 million in small business grants.
