North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem announced Wednesday Governor Doug Burgum has no authority to appoint a person to an open state house seat, won by a republican who died from COVID-19 before the election.  According to Stenehjem, Burgum’s appointment of BNI Energy President Wade Boeshans is both inaccurate and untimely.  North Dakota GOP house majority leader Chet Pollert concurred with Stenehjem’s assessment saying the Governor “overstepped his boundaries” in trying to appoint someone to the seat.
