State senator Ryan Nesiba, Democrat from Sioux Falls, has tested positive for COVID-19. He is the second lawmaker who attended Governor Kristi Noem's budget address last week to come down with the virus. The other person confirmed to have COVID was senator Helene Duhmael of Rapid City. Nesiba is 54 years old and says he is experiencing minor symptoms. He first started experiencing them last Friday morning. Nesiba says while at the capital he took all necessary precautions including wearing a mask, taking it off only when necessary.
