The state Department of Public Safety is reminding drivers the deadline to renew expired driver’s license is approaching. Renewal exemptions put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic expire Dec. 30th. The exemptions put in place by Gov. Kristi Noem, allowed people more time to renew their state issued drivers license or ID card if that card expired on or after March 13th. Anyone who wants to renew their card must make an appointment in advance and can do so at the safety department’s web site dps.sd.gov.
