Alcohol and tobacco sales up big in South Dakota during the COVID-19 pandemic

According to a report from South Dakota News Watch, South Dakotan’s bought far more alcohol and tobacco than normal during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.  In South Dakota, gross sales  in liquor stores increased by about 21 percent from 2019 to 2020, that’s up from $96 million in sale to about $117 million.  Gross sales in tobacco store and stands rose by 42 percent from about $17 million to $24 million.
