 Northern State freshman, Kolton Rothwas announced this afternoon as the NSIC Wrestler of the Week following his 6-0 record to kick-off the 2018-19 season.
Quick Hits on the Wolves
- NSU defeated Concordia Moorhead in the 2018-19 season opener (23-14) and tallied four top-3 finishes from the DWU Open
- The Wolves recorded 23 decision wins, four major decisions, four technical falls, and 15 victories by fall on the week
Kolton Roth and Kaden Campbell led the team against Concordia Moorhead with 10-2 major decision victories, while tallying the decisive decision victory for the Wolves
- Roth went on to win the 141-pound weight class at the DWU Open going 5-0, including a victory by fall over No. 7 Adam Hedin of St. Cloud State
- Campbell took third at 184-pounds at DWU notching four victories by fall and one technical fall
Dayne Morton finished third at 125-pounds at DWU with a 6-1 record on the week, including a decision victory versus CC
Caden Moore took second at DWU in the 149-pound weight class, with a close 3-2 loss to James Pleski of SCSU in the finals
NSIC Wrestler of the Week
Kolton Roth (141, Fr., Graettinger, Iowa / Graettinger Terril HS) – Northern State
- Led the Wolves with a 6-0 record on the week, en route to the 141 pound title at the Dakota Wesleyan Open
- Opened his NSU career with a 10-2 major decision win over Bret Wilson of Concordia College
- Went 5-0 from DWU with two pins, one major decision, and two decisions
- Defeated No. 7 Adam Hedin of St. Cloud State by fall at 0:34 in the semifinal round
- Recorded an 18-10 major decision win over Hunter Burnett of Augustana in the finals
- Tallied four wins over NSIC opponents at the DWU Open
