The Minnesota Wild have announced the hiring of Bill Guerin to serve as the team’s next general manager and fourth GM overall. Guerin replaces the fired Paul Fenton who was relieved of his duties earlier this summer after just over a year on the job. Guerin was a finalist for the job the last time it was available, but ultimately lost out to Fenton. Guerin has spent the last nine years with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization serving three years in player development and the last five as the assistant general manager. Guerin is a U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer who won two Stanley Cups as a player with the Penguins and played 18 NHL seasons.
