Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk talks return to the NHL season

Sports leagues of all sizes professional and amateur have seen their seasons ended early, suspended or postponed due to COVID-19.  Many are still trying to find work arounds to salvage whatever they can.

For the NHL, the league is exploring several different options to crown a Stanley Cup champion.  The league holds regular conference calls with officials and player representatives of the NHL Players Association.

Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk serves as the Wild’s representative and is a regular on these calls.  He explained to the media what an average conversation is like…

Dubnyk speaks honestly about the fact that restarting this season is going to be difficult, but according to him everyone is working towards the same goal and that is playing hockey again…

The New York Post reports the league is now  looking at a 24-team tournament with a best of three play in round rather than a condensed finish to the regular season or just a straight start to the Stanley Cup playoffs.  That is if the league can get clearance to play games safely.
