The American Hockey League, the official farm system for players just below the NHL has announced they will cancel the remainder of the 2019-20 season including playoffs. League president Dave Andrews mad the announcement Monday. The decision was made following a vote by the league's board of governors last Friday. The league had suspended play a of March 12th due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The AHL is a gate driven league therefore requires people to actually attend games to generate revenue for operations. The NHL is still exploring ideas to try and salvage the remainder of the season.
