SDHSAA advisory board creates protocols for summer activities

The South Dakota High School Activities Association has announced summer plans for activities following a board meeting Thursday. Based on the NFHS reccomendations, a three phase plan will begin June 1st and include no more than 10 people indoors or outdoors during drills and practices. Moving to phase two more people will be allowed depending on the number of COVID cases over a 14 day period in any given area. Schools are not required, but highly encouraged to take follow these guideline.


In the same meeting the board failed to pass a resolution changing the football class system. A five class football proposal failed when the votes ended up tied. Instead, the board voted to form a new subcommittee which will be tasked with developing a new five and six class propsoal by November 1st.
