The Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes announced a blockbuster deal which will keep the Super Bowl MVP with the team for the next 10 years. Mahomes agreed to a 10-year extension worth a reported $503 million. The deal includes a no-trade clause and opt out clauses if guarantee mechanisms aren’t met. It’s the richest deal in professional sports history, suprassing slugger Mike Trout’s deal with the Los Angeles Angels worth $426.5 million. The deal also includes $140 million in guaranteed money for Mahomes should he suffer an injury. Mahomes is 24 years old and helped lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl 54 victory last season. It was the franchises second Super Bowl championship and first since 1969.
