The Pittsburgh Penguins have informed the Minnesota Wild the team will reclaim its 15th overall pick in this upcoming NHL draft. Minnesota has the right to Pittsburgh’s first round pick, acquiring it in the Jason Zucker trade. However, this year the pick was lottery protected and Pittsburgh lost its play in series in the league’s return to play, placing them in the lottery. Pittsburgh could have allowed Minnesota to make the 15th overall selection and completed the deal, but chose not to. Now next offseason, Minnesota will hold the Penguins first round pick no matter where the selection made.
