Several major sporting events did not go on as planned Wednesday as players protested for accountability in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Kenosha Wisconsin. The protest began when the Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the court for game five of their NBA playoff series with the Orlando Magic. The decision prompted the NBA to cancel all three games scheduled for Wednesday night. In Major League Baseball the Milwaukee Brewers players voted not to play against the Cincinnatti Reds and the Seattle Mariners did not play the San Diego Padres. The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants also sat out their game. All Three WNBA games scheduled for Wednesday night were postponed as well. The NHL did play their games, prompting Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba, who is a founding member of the Hockey Diversity Alliance, to criticize the league calling the decision disheartening.
