Summit League officials announced Wednesday their scheduling plans to proceed with a 16-game league schedule for volleyball.
In August, the Summit League President's Council voted unanimously to postpone the regular season and championships for fall sports to the spring due to COVID-19 concerns.
"We are excited to be able to provide these championship experiences for our student-athletes and lock in these dates," Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple said.
The league's nine members will play a double-round robin format with each team receiving one bye during the spring season. Teams will play the same opponent twice at one site. The first half of the schedule will follow a Sunday-Monday format to avoid scheduling conflicts with basketball. Beginning March 5-6, games will be played Friday-Saturday for the remainder of the season.
The Jackrabbits will open their Summit League schedule as they host Western Illinois Jan. 31-Feb. 1. In addition to the opening series versus WIU, State will host Denver (Feb. 14-15), South Dakota (Feb. 28-March 1) and North Dakota (March 12-13).
Road series are slated at North Dakota State (Feb. 7-8), Kansas City (Feb. 21-22), Omaha (March 5-6) and Oral Roberts (March 19-20).
The squad will have a bye the last weekend of the league schedule before the Summit League Volleyball Championship, April 2-3. The championship will be held at The Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls and will feature the top four teams from the regular season competing for a chance to earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Game times and ticket information will be released at a later date.
