President Donald Trump has given legendary Iowa wrestler and coach Dan Gable the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The PMF is the highest honor our government gives to civilians. Gable was a champion wrestler on his own, winning a national championship at 130lbs in 1968, 137 in 1969 and second place at 142lbs in 1970. He also won gold at the Pan America games in 1971, a Wrestling World Championship in 1971 and Olympic Gold at the 1972 Munich Olympics. While coaching at the University of Iowa he won 21 Big Ten conference championships and 15 NCAA Division I championships between 1976 to 1997.
