The Minnesota Wild named defenseman Jared Spurgeon as the next team captain to replace longtime captain Mikko Koviu who's contract was not renewed following the end of the 2020 season. He is just the second fulltime captain in team history. Spurgeon is 31 years old and has been in the NHL since 2010. He was selected by the New York Islanders 156th overall in the 2008 NHL draft. He signed a free agent contract with Minnesota in 2010-11 after failing to be signed by the Islanders. Spurgeon talked about the decision...
