Aberdeen native Josh Heupel has been named the head football coach at the University of Tennessee. Tennessee is a storied football program which plays in the SEC and boasts of alums such as Peyton Manning. Heupel is 42 years old and graduated from Central High School. He played quarterback at the University of Oklahoma where he won a national championship in 2000. As a coach he has been serving as the University of Central Florida’s head coach since 2018 where he accumulated a record of 28-8 during that time. He will be the 27th coach of the Volunteer program, a program which hasn’t won an SEC championship since 1998 or a national championship since 98 as well.
