The NFL owners announced Tuesday the league is expanding the regular season to 17 games while the pre-season will be shrunk to three games. This is the first time in 43 years owners have voted to increase the regular season. The season went from 14 games to 16 in 1978 and has been that way until now. The Super Bowl will also be pushed back one week to February 13th. Each extra game will be an inter-conference matchup based on where the team finished the previous season.
