The University of South Dakota announced earlier this week its final game of the season scheduled for April 17th vs. Western Illinois will not be played due to COVID-19. With that the University announced Wednesday it would not seek another opponent and effectively end its spring football season. COVID-19 played a huge role in this football season for the Coyotes. Their first game of the year vs. Western Illinois was postponed back on February 19th and the Coyotes haven’t played a game since losing to Youngstown State on March 20th. Following that game USD had three cancelations against North Dakota State, UNI and South Dakota State, then announced the final cancelation against Western Illinois. The Coyotes finish the season 1-3.
