The Minnesota Vikings announced Monday the team will not be picking up the fifth year option on cornerback Mike Hughes. This means Hughes will enter this season in the last year of his rookie contract. Hughes was selected 30th overall in the 2018 NFL draft out of Central Florida. In three seasons he has dealt with a lot of injuries including missing almost his entire rookie season after tearing his ACL. Hughes 5th year option would have cost the Vikings $9.5 million. Hughes and the Vikings can come to terms on a new contract anytime during this upcoming season.
