Tim Miles out at Nebraska

Doland South Dakota native and Nebraska head men’s basketball coach Tim Miles has been fired after seven seasons in Lincoln.  He finished 13th in the Big Ten this past year and failed to make the NCAA tournament for the fifth straight season.  Miles head coaching career began in 1995 and this is the first time in his career he has been fired. 


SDSU announces Henderson as next head men's basketball coach

South Dakota State has announced the hiring of Eric Henderson to take over as the next head men’s basketball coach of the Jacks basketball program.  Henderson has served as an assistant coach at South Dakota State for the past three seasons.  He replaces T.J. Otzelberger who leaves the program to take over as the next head coach at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.  This will be Henderson’s first head coaching job at the collegiate level.

Class B boys state tournament game one pushed back to 2:00 p.m. tip

The March 14, 2019 session one start time of State B Boys Basketball in Aberdeen has been moved from 12:00 PM Central Time to 2:00 PM Central Time. Subsequent sessions will remain as scheduled. Game times for Session One will change from 12:00 PM and 1:45 PM to 2:00 PM and 3:45 PM. Session Two start time will remain 6:00 PM Central Time. 

 


Saints head football coach Chuck Miesbauer leaves the program for a job in Minnesota

Presentation College head football coach Chuck Miesbauer is stepping down from the Saints program and accepting a job in Minnesota.  Miesbauer will return to his high school alma matter Cretin Durham Hall High School in St. Paul Minnesota to take over as the head coach of the football program.  Assistant coach and offensive coordinator Travis Titus has been named the interim head coach of the Saints football program and a search for the next head coach has already begun. 


Cleveland Browns trade for star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

The Cleveland Browns made a huge move via trade Tuesday night, coming to terms with the New York Giants for star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.  Beckham will head to Cleveland while the Browns will send a first and third round pick and safety Jabrill Peppers to New York in exchange. 


PC women's head basketball coach Eric Nelson no longer in charge of program

Presentation College women’s basketball coach Eric Nelson is no longer in charge of the Saints basketball program.  Nelson tells the Aberdeen American News’ Rob Garafalo he was forced to resign.  In a statement released by Vice President of Student Services Bob Schuchardt, Nelson submitted his letter of resignation to human resources Tuesday morning.  He had a great season and they wish him well wherever his career takes him.


Despite weather concerns SDHSAA events will continue as scheduled

The SDHSAA Basketball Tournaments and Visual Arts Event scheduled for this weekend will be completed as scheduled. Teams have been notified of this and have made appropriate arrangements. SDHSAA Staff will continue to monitor the weather and remain in contact with the National Weather Service and South Dakota Department of Public Safety. 

Any future updates regarding these events will be distributed to media through press releases, and will also be distributed through the SDHSAA Twitter account and Facebook page. 

We encourage all spectators to use judgment in regards to travel to the tournaments, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday. 


Golden Eagle girls basketball game postponed

Aberdeen Golden Eagles girls basketball SoDak 16 game vs. Brandon Valley scheduled for tonight has been postponed due to weather.  A makeup date will be announced later.
