Longtime South Dakota high school basketball coach Mark Senftner passes away

Longtime South Dakota high school coach Mark Senftner has passed away after a two year battle with a brain tumor. His passing was announced on his CaringBridge page by his wife Monday. Senftner was the head coach of the Sully Buttes girls basketball and football team for many years. He was inducted into the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Hall of Shrine in 2022. In girls basketball Senftner coached Sully Buttes to 11 state tournament appearances and four state championships in 2007, 2008, 2016 and 2017. In football he coached the charges to four state championship games.
