Lower Brule Sioux Tribe votes to ban gov. Noem

The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe voted Wednesday to ban South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem from its reservation. This is now the eighth of South Dakota’s nine tribal reservations to ban Governor Noem over comments she made earlier this year. The governor alleges Mexican drug cartels are operating on South Dakota’s Native American Reservations with tribal protection and at the benefit of tribal leaders. Tribal leaders have demanded Governor Noem provide proof of these allegations or apologize. The governor remains steadfast in her claims, posting about cartel activity on tribal lands just last night on her X account. The last remaining tribe yet to ban governor Noem, the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe told the Daily Beast there are no plans currently in the works to take such action.
