Marshall county SD highest in state for self reporting excessive drinking

According to a report released by the University of Wisconsin, Marshall county South Dakota has the highest amount of excessive drinking amongst adults in the state. The numbers come from the Universities population health institute regarding its 2023 county health rankings and roadmaps report. The data is self reported and encompasses binge drinking, four or more drinks on one occasion, five for men and heavy drinking, eight or more drinks a week for women, fifteen or more for men. 25 percent of adults in Marshall county reported excessive drinking. Behind Marshall includes Stanley, Duel, Codington, Edmunds and Lawrence with 24 percent.
