A group in Baltic South Dakota has successfully collected enough signatures to go forward with a mayoral recall election. South Dakotans for Transparent Government, launched their recall efforts in April trying to recall mayor Deborah McIsaac. According to the petition, the group claims mayor McIsaac has demonstrated misconduct in office, gross incompetence, and gross partiality during her year as mayor. Leading the charge for this recall effort is a local developer Grant Park Capital who has been in more than one lengthy court battle with the city. The petition must be filed with the Baltic financial officer, and if mayor McIsaac chooses she can challenge the recall in court within five days. Otherwise the city has 10 days to set the date for the recall election.
