Minnesota Vikings ready for week 1 matchup against Green Bay Sunday

The Minnesota Vikings have completed the pre-season and now ready for the return of the NFL Sunday. The Vikings are at home Sunday taking on the Green Bay Packers. Kick off will be at 3:25 p.m. and the game can be heard on 105.5 Maverick FM.

The Vikings players have named team captains. O’Connell says 20 players received votes but in the end four offensive players, three defensive players and one special teams captain was named.

Offensive captains are Krik Cousins, Dalvin Cook, Brian O’Neill and Adam Thielen. Defensive captains are Eric Kendriks, Harrison Smith, and Patrick Peterson. Finally, special teams captain is former Augustana Viking C.J. Ham.

O’Connell says this group of leaders have earned the team captain nominations…

Vikings defensive end Za’Darius Smith was acquired via free agency this offseason and opens the season taking on his old team, the Green Bay Packers. O’Connell says the whole team, but specifically Smith is fired up for this first game matchup…
