Authorities in Mitchell are investigating a train derailment that occurred Saturday afternoon. According to reports the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. Saturday near 1^st avenue and South Minnesota Street. No injuries were reported but the contents of the train cars were spilled. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation and lost goods from the accident have yet to be fully determined.
