Monarch Butterfly considered endangered

According to the Associated Press the Monarch Butterfly, an iconic insect with orange, black and white wings, have been added to the endangered species list. According to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, this is the first time the monarch has been added to the “red list” of threatened species. The group estimates monarch butterfly populations in North America have declined between 22 and 72 percent over the past 10 years depending on the measurement methods. It is believed their population is threatened due to habitat loss and climate change.
